All about invitations

Invitations are an essential part of the wedding planning process. Here are a few tips to help make this a no stress zone.

The Basics –

• No abbreviations should be used on your invitations unless they refer to a name, such as Mr., Mrs. or St. [as in Saint Bartholemew]
• All names should include the middle names of the persons being named and should be written in full. e.g. Michael Francis Edwards.
• 2011 would be Two thousand and eleven.
• Don’t need to use complete sentences.
• First names on the invitation by tradition are those of the persons paying for the wedding. Such as

Mr. and Mrs. John George Phillips

request the honour of your presence

at the marriage of the daughter

Elizabeth Marie

to

Jason Patrick Connery

Saturday, the twenty-fifth of August

at five o’clock

two thousand and eleven

St Bartholemew’s Church

Main Street, Ohio

• Wording may be changed and adapted to fit the circumstances of parties concerned, but keep it simple.
